Where is the Snowy Mountains Highway?

It was during the Christmas/New Year period 1997/98 that I was fortunate to be able to spend time driving 9733 km (6048 miles) around the eastern half of Australia. This took me from the Gold Coast, Northwest through Queensland (Roma, Longreach, Mount Isa, Camooweal) into the Northern Territory, down the Stuart Highway (Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Coober Pedy, Port Augusta) to Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, then around the coast of South Australia, Victoria and into New South Wales before completing the round trip to home.

Just North of Bega, in the extreme south-east of N.S.W. I turned left onto the Snowy Mountains Highway which runs from the coastal Princes Highway, through Cooma, Adaminaby and Tumut, joining the Hume Highway near Wagga Wagga.

The Australian Landscape series now stands at: Bankside, Early Avondale, Hayshed, Macdonnell Ranges, Snowy River Country and now Snowy Mountains Highway.
