Pandas, which are mammals, look like cuddly black and white bears, but in fact they are related to raccoons. They live in the cold bamboo forests of central China, and are becoming very rare because man is cutting down the forests in which they live. Some have been captured in the hope that they will breed, but Pandas do not breed well in captivity.
The Panda eats fish and small animals, but its favorite food is bamboo shoots.
Pandas do not hibernate in winter, but find shelter in trees.
